Take care of the pence, and pounds will take care of  themselves.

Have a nice day

ANNE went to Kisokoma Senjyoujiki-Cirque

Hi.
How have you been?

ANNE went to Sinjyoujiki-Cirque for the second time just after the day that Mt. Ontake erupted

ANNE, the woman who enjoys mountain climbing!?

My husband planned to go to Mt. Ontake or Mt. Kisokoma last weekend.
Unfortunately two of his friends could not accompanied him last Sunday.
And Mt. Ontake erupted on the previous day as I mentioned above.
So he decided to go to Mt. Kisokoma and wanted me to to there together.
I agreed to go with him.

On Sunday, we got up at 4:00 in order to escape from the heavy jam at the Ropeway station.

(At the previous time, we had to wait at 1 hour and a half to ride on the ropewayexclamation)

Last weekend, to our surprise, there were already many people to visit Kisokoma Senjyoujiki-Cirque.
But not as much as the previous time, we arrived at the Senjyoujiki- Cirque at around 7:00.

ANNE's Travel to Cambodia Vol.1 Angkor Wat

ANNE went to Kingdom of Cabodia with my family from Aug. 30 to Sept.2.

I've wanted to visit Angkor Wat for a long time since I'd seen the illustration on the textbook of ECC for beginners (4th grade-6th grade).

In this textbook, elementary school students from all over the world visit many countries.
And Cambodia is one of them.

Angkor Wat means "the capital that has temple" .
It's very big and amazing

アンコールワット遠景web.jpg

I was impressed so much with the beauty of carving here and there.
There was a world of Hinduism.
You would not be able to see Angkor Wat in a dayexclamation

Angkor Wat was a kind of religious monument to pray.
Ancient kings climbed to the 3rd corridor to pray gods of the Hinduism.

It is a little hard to climb to the 3rd corridor
It's because we would bow our heads to the gods while we climb the ladders.
目

To tell the truth, this year's my 10th anniversary since I've opened ECC classroom

Also to celebrate my elder son's graduation from university, to celebrate his getting an informal decision for a job and to celebrate his birthdayプレゼント, I planned this travel手(チョキ)

Although my elder son could not accompanied with us because of his circle camp, we enjoyed the trip very much.

ANNE, the woman who enjoys mountain climbing!?

Hi, How have you been?
In Japan, we Japanese are in Obon week.

Generally, souls of ancestors are thought to come back to our world from Aug.13〜 Aug 15.
So many of us visit our ancestral tombs. So lots of Japanese companies have Obon holidays during these weeks. And lots of people go abroad, visit summer resorts to enjoy their vacations.

There is a boom in outdoor activities like climbing mountains, trecking, canoeing・・・here in Japan. Especially many women come to enjoy climbing mountains, trecking, rock climbing.
We often hear the word "Yama-girl (young women who enjoy climbing mountains or other activities)".
You can see many outdoor fashion items or outdoor gears for women at outdoor shops.

and so on・・・

Am I a Yama-girl?
No, I'm not. I prefer indoor activities, like watching dramas, reading books, etc.

But two days before yesterday, (Aug.13) I went to a mountain with my family.
My husband wanted to take us to Senjyou-jiki Cirque, Houkendake Mt. etc. in Nagano Pref.

We got up at 5:00 in that morning and left for the mountain.
We have to use Chuo Free Way and reach Suganodai Bus Station.
At Suganodai, we park our vehicles. From there private vehicles are prohibited for protecting nature.
To get on the bus to ropeway station, we waited about 30 minutes.

To our surprise, がく〜(落胆した顔) to get on the ropeway to Senjyoujiki-Station, the highest ropeway station in Japan, waiting time is 2 hours目
That is because of Obon holidaysexclamation×2

While we were waiting, we had a small trecking to Higurashi-no-Taki (Higurashi Water Fall).
It took about 40 minutes to go there one way. So it was good to spend time effectively
And the scenery was so amazing.

After getting on the Komagatake ropeway for 7 minutes (very fast目) we arrived at Senjyoujiki Cirque (We pronounce it Senjyoujiki Karlu).

There was a promenade walk through Senjyoujiki-Cirque. for 40-50 minutes to go round.
Senjoujiki Cirque spreads on a slope at a height of over 2,000 meters above sea level, It has a bowl shape that was scraped off by ice from the Ice age.

And "Senjoujiki" was named from the width of a space where 1,000 tatami mats can be placed.
Quated from Senjojiki Cirque at Japanese Central Alps

Although my husband, elder son, and younger son climbed up the Houken-dake(宝剣岳 means Treasure Swords-shaped mountain), I didn't climb because I had a stomachache that day.
I spent the time walking, eating snacks, watching the souvenir shops, and reading books.

It rained once while my family members except me climbing, but it stopped soon.
Anyway we all enjoyed the sceneries and short trip.

How about your summer?

Nui-dori in Arimatsu

In the morning the news said that today, the temperature would be the highest ever recorded this year.

Actually it's so hot that my car air condition doesn't work well.

Anyway I got to Arimatsu Shibori Kaikan which is the exhibition center of Arimatsu Shibori after about 1 hour drive from my house.

I did "Nui-dori" in front of its gate.

Nui-dori is to take photos with stuffed animals.
I heard it through the morning news variety show called "Asaichi".

有松絞り会館 with Duffy.JPG

At the second floor I saw the video about Arimatsu Shibori.
Arimatsu Shibori is one of traditional tie-dye art.
At the Edo era, the technique of tie-dying cloth was born and has been inherited.
And it's well known as one of Japan's oldest forms of industry.

The processes of making Arimatsu tie-dying cloth are almost made by workers.
So it takes long time to complete clothes.

I was so impressed with delicate and fine art.

The below is one of the tie-dying machine.
Please imagine how wonderful and how difficult technique Arimatsu Shibori is.

Have a nice summer weekends.
See you soon.

To see Hanamomo Trees

It's Children's Day.
And the last second day of Golden week. How's going ?

My husband, mother-in-law, elder son and I went to the Achi village in Nagano Prefecture to see Hanamomo trees.

Soon after we left, it began to rain.
(So unlucky

But many people visited there to see Hanamomo trees even in such bad weather.
Hanamomos were so vivid and beautifulexclamation

Hanamomos are flowering peach trees. Hanamomos are different from peach trees目
Hanamomos also have peaches (fruit) , but they are not for food.

They are planted in a line along the streets with beautiful gradation of red, white, and pink.

According to 花桃の里 花桃まつり, about 300 Hanamomo trees are planted there.

Seeing is believing.
I cannot say the beauty of nature.
Hanamomos are the best seasons to see during Golden Week(Apr 29 to May 5 and extra holidays) every year.

How about visiting and seeing the beautiful Hanamomo if you have a chance?
Sweet pink gradation will welcome you.

I went to meet Hokusai♪

There has been the exhibition "Hokusai Ten (北斎展)" until tomorrow.

I didn't have the chance to go to Boston museum in Kanayama, Nagoya.
But I didn't want to miss the exhibition, so I checked the schedule of the museum.

The official site says it closes tomorrow!
But I can't go because I have 2 lessons for STEP TEST tomorrow.

So I decided to go to see it today.
After I finished walking my dog Sakura, and drying the laundry, I left home.

When I arrived at the entrance of the museum, there was a long long line waiting for tickets.
Many people think the same as me わーい(嬉しい顔)

hokusai-exhibition.JPG

I love Hokusai's Fugoku-36 kei (富嶽三十六景) , or Mt.Fuji series especially among Ukiyoe art pieces.

Many pieces of this exhibition are of Boston Art Museum in the USA.
So I feel happy to see many of them today.

These are the photos of postcards that I bought at the museum.

Great wave.jpg

May be these pieces are very famous all around the world as masterpieces of Ukiyoe.

The above one is ”Fine wind, Clear weather” from the series Thirty-six Vies of Mount Fuji".
It is also called Akafuji (赤富士) because Mt.Fuji in this picture is painted with red.

The lower one is "The Great Wave  off the Coast of Kanagawa"from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.

I love this "Great Wave" in particular.  The wave is so dynamic in this picture.

These Landscape Prints are made through many steps.

1. Engrave a block.
2. Color (Paint a block)
3.Print (Put paper and print the picture of block)

When you know the process of multicolored printing and think this art was born in Edo era, you'll be so surprised.

I hope you are interested in these fine art of Ukiyoe and enjoy them.

Have a nice weekend

ANNE went to see the Ukiyoe Exhibition♪ Vol.1 Mikaeri-bijinzu

Spring has come!?
It is getting warmer and warmer these day.

Yesterday, I went to the "Ukiyoe Exhibition", being held in Nagoya now.

Ukiyoe (浮世絵) was born in Edo(now in Tokyo) about 350 years ago.

Ukiyoe is a kind of Woodblock print.

Various scenes of ordinary lives of citizens, portraits of beautiful women, actors of Kabuki were drawn or printed in Ukiyoe.

The following picture is of the flyer of "Dai Ukiyoe Ten (The grand Ukiyoe Exhibition)".

Especially  the "Mikaeri-bijinzu 見返り美人図" drawed by Moronobu Hishikawa(菱川師宣), one of the most popular Ukiyoe artists is exhibited this time.

Mikaeri-bijinzu is ”Looking Back beauty” in English.
The design and coloring of Kimono,  the style, the hair style is beatiful.

And it is one of the most popular Ukiyoe pieces.

I think Ukiyoe is wonderful art and culture of Japan.
We should learn more about our own culture and we can proud of  Japanese culture more.

The pieces of Ukiyoe will be changed during the term of exhibition.
I'd like to go to see the exhibition again to see another great pieces.

The term of the exhibition is
 March 11 〜 May 6
 at Nagoya City Museum

My Osechi 2014♪ Kuri-kinton

A happy new yearわーい(嬉しい顔)

I hope this year would be good for you.

In Japan there is a special cuisine called "Osechi-ryouri(おせち料理)".
The picture below is my Osechi I made(partly boughtわーい(嬉しい顔)) for this year.

Each dish of Osechi-ryouri has a meaning.

Originally, Osechi-ryouri has been made wishing for long life, good health, prosperity, or rich harvest for coming year.

For example, I made "Kuri-kinton".
Kuri-kinton is mashed sweet potates with candied chestnuts.

This is the process of Kuri-kinton.
After mashing sweet potate, mix sugar and heat.

Kuri-kinton is an auspicious dish that is believed to bring you welth because of its color "gold".

I make Kuri-kinton every year so that we can live in peace and witiout worrying about the money.

In Japan economic downturn is continuing. In 2013, the economic situation seemed to look up a little thanks to Abenomics, although  it is long for us to realise the wealth.

Anyway, I expect that the future becomes good.

Have a good day♪

ANNE went to Hong Kong 3

Hi, How's going?

I have a English lesson for Step Test today.
Today's lesson is for 4th grade: that covers the contents for 2nd grade of junior high school.
And the test day is approaching.  I'll teach as best as I can.

I haven't written blogs for a log time. And my blog about my trip hasn't finished yet...
Let me continue the essay.

♪♪♪☆☆☆♪♪♪☆☆☆

The third day in Hong Kong

we applied for the optional tour to Macao in the afternoon.
So my son and I went shopping for getting souvenirs to friends, relatives, and of course to our family.
First of all we looked for a supermarket in Hong Kong. It located not too far from the Hotel.
And it opened from 9:00手(チョキ) But we could not find easily. It was in the basement floor.

The supermarket in Hong Kong was the same as of Japan generally.
This picture is the aisle of  dayly necessaries.
I don't like home making but I love commodities like these.
Surprisingly there are Japanese notations. For example, Sawaday and サワデ― are notated together.

supermarket in Hong Kong.jpg

Acoording to the tour guide, Japanese products are popular among Hong Kong people because of the quality.
I understand it very well.

I bought instant noodles for my husband.
"出前一丁" is very popular instant noodle item. Almost all Japanese might know the name.
And these are the same logo, but the tastes are of Hong Kong

As I expected, he enjoyed the choice.

Recently Japanese economy is depressing because of strong Yen or global condition・・・

But ANNE thinks that many Japanese products are welcomed for their blands or their certain qualities.
We also saw many TOYOTAs, NISSANs, and Hondas on Hong Kong roads.
And our guide said Hong Kong people prefer Japanese food or Japanese technology to Chinese.
Isn't that  one of the answers for Japanese companies to challenge for economic regrowth?
So Japan should not give up the economical turnaround.

Thank you for your reading to the end of today.  Next time let me write about Macao.

Have nice holidays

ANNE went to Hong Kong 2

Hong Kong is a powerful cityexclamation

Many people, fast and powerful Cantonese language, and Hong Kong is one of the biggest financial centers in Asia.

And a day in powerful Hong Kong begins with this powerful breakfast.

The guide said people in Hong Kong go out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
And one of the most popular breakfast in Hong Kong and Chinese area is this Chinese porridge(中国粥).

IMG_1256.JPG

Maybe women like this kind of healthy food.
The taste is light, and we can add salt, pepper, soy sauce, or Chinese chilie oil.
Some of sliced abalone were on the top of porridge.

大根もち(radish rice cake) and Chinese soup(at left) also assorted.
There were some women in the tour, and almost all of them including me were so fullexclamation×2 with this breakfast.

After breakfast we went to the ceremony site(香港返還式場 held in1997 from the UK).
I don't know the exact name of the site(^^;)

IMG_1263.JPG

Unfortunately I couldn't put the site in this picture,ふらふら  but the landscape was wonderful♪
I heard for the first time that there is no earthquate in Hong Kong.
That is why such tall buildings are build there.

"And 風水(Chinese geomancy) is very popular here.
So the whole Hong Kong is designed according to 風水 somehow.", the guide taught us.

It was hot but sunny at that day on Aug 10, there.
Hong Kong was powerful and beautiful!

to be continued・・・
See you soon.

ANNE went to Kyoto on Tanabata Day♪

Last Sunday, I went to Kyoto with my friends.
They are the former members of PTA at my elder son's high school.
My elder son is the 3rd grade of a university now, but our relationship( or friendship) has been continuing for more than 3 years. That's amazing.

First we went to Kiyomizudera temple.
It's famous for the place that "This year's 漢字" is announced.
There is also a expression, "Kiyomizu no butai kara tobioriru".
It is a common saying used when people make a bold decision.

Actually "Kiyomizu no butai" is said to be as tall as a building with five stories.
So, if a person jump from it would die.

Therefore the expression is used when someone make a big decision or all-or-nothing decision.

Japanese is a complicated and impressive language, isn't it?

IMG_1228.JPG

This picture is Kiyomizudera temple.

There was a calm waterfall called "Otowa no Taki".
I heard the ancient folklore(言い伝え)of "Otowa no Taki" for the first time.
It says that there are 3 effects of the water, Long life, Love, and High education.
And there are 3 streams of the fall.
Your wish might be carried out if you drink one of it.

There was an old lady maybe from the US at Otowa no Taki.
she wanted to know which stream of water to drink, and she asked a dad who took a little boy with him, while we've been waiting in a line. But he couldn't explain well.

After she finished taking a miracle(? holy) water, I asked her if she could choose a proper water.
She smiled and said,
"I could driink the proper water, and I wished Long life."
I replied her,
"That's good."

I was glad to have a communication with her.
It was only a tiny conversation, but it might be a motivation to learn foreign language.

I don't know the information well, I can't tell you the story in more detail.
Please check it out when you visit "Otowa no Taki" if you have any wish.

And I think we Japanese should know about our country and our culture more.
Otherwise, we can't explain the proper thing when people from other countries ask us.

In the afternoon, we walked around Teramachi, Gion area.
The dinner was "Tofu dises" at Kawadoko.
This is a scenary of Kawadoko. It's cool(風流)♪
Kawadoko is the place where we can enjoy dishes watching Kamogawa river as the floor expands to Kamogawa river in summer.
It was also the first experience for me.
Contrary to expectations, it was cool as it was maybe the riverside.

It was so hot and humid at that day in Kyoto, but we enjoyed there so much.
